Monoprinting - The Process
I use the monoprinting process as a way of explorimng images in the studio. The whole process is very simple and immediate, and you can do it for both small and large pieces. As I do not have regular access to a printing press, I use the pressure of my own hands to get an imprint on paper.
I use oil based paint on a sheet of perspex and press different types of paper onto this in order to get the prints. Obviously, each print is unique, but interesting things happen as the image becomes more of a 'ghost'.
I will often work on top of these prints with paints and pastels.
